When I think of industrial interior design, words that come to mind are raw, warehouse, metal, timber, rustic, stripped back, edgy, structural, concrete.

Industrial design is often seen in lofts, apartments and converted warehouse spaces, but it is so popular that you can totally transform your own home into an industrial style by using some of the design and styling components used in this design style.

Industrial spaces are usually stripped back to show texture, architectural elements and structures and this is done to create a raw, rustic, edgy atmosphere.

Common textures that are used are brick textures, concrete, timber, metal, stone and concrete. A combination of these textures creates depth within a space. Furniture pieces and decorating styles can range from Scandinavian design to retro to contemporary and traditional. It really depends on what you love, and what you achieve to bring out of the space! It is quite an eclectic style which makes every space unique!

Ways to soften this raw look are by hanging floor to ceiling curtains for window coverings, fabrics being introduced into furniture and accessories, and rugs on the floor to define what are usually huge open spaces.
