Kitchens are the most expensive room in your home to renovate. To ensure the heart of your home is as luxurious and beautiful as it can possibly be, here are some tips on a budget!
Choose Flatpack
Flatpack kitchens have come a long way; not only will they save you significant amount of money compared to a custom job, but they can give you the exact look you’re after. When establishing your budget, you’ll need to factor in the cost of a handyman if you don’t have the time or skills to put it together yourself. Most flatpacks imply that they’re a DIY product, so theoretically, you should be able to do-it-yourself if you have the patience!
Embellish Your Cabinets
For a few hundred dollars you can have your cupboards looking amazing. Hardware for your cupboards isn’t just available from the place you got your cabinets from; look around for something amazing!
Mix Up Your Finishes
There are a lot more finishes and colours available for your kitchen than the all gloss white look. You may even consider going two-tone; think about having your top cupboards one colour and your bottom ones a darker colour.
Make A Statement With Your Splashback
There are so many affordable options for your splashback that will make a significant impact compared to a cheaper glass splashback. Choosing an organic or bevelled subway tile, or using black or grey grout, can give a beautiful result. Using a tile or material that is colourful, textured, or patterned will make a real statement, as would mirror or pressed tin.
Display With Some Open Shelving
Displaying your cook books, ornaments, or beautiful bowls in your kitchen can add personality and class to the space. This can be achieved as easily as constructing some overhead flatpack cabinets without doors, or with a few simple timber shelves.
Accessorise!
Think of the saying “less is more” when accessorising your kitchen. It can be as simple as adding some cannisters, stacking some chopping boards, displaying a marble mortar and pestle, or posing a fruit bowl on your breakfast bench. All of these options can be found at affordable prices, and just a few simple pieces is all you need to achieve a luxe look. If you are looking to invest a little more, a beautiful ceramic fruit bowl, a deluxe coffee machine, or framed art on a wall, will also add to your kitchen.
Don’t Forget About Your Windows!
Your windows also need some accessorising to really create a luxurious kitchen. A plantation shutter, or Roman blind made out of linen or patterned fabric won’t cost too much as it is just for the one room.
